Net Worth Update – October 2022

In this post, I’ll be sharing my net worth for the month of October.

Here is the breakdown by category:

My October 2022 net worth

Cash (Savings & Checking)

If you read my September Net Worth Update, you’ll notice that I decreased the amount of cash I have sitting in my bank account making next to nothing in interest.

Most of that excess cash from last month went into my new brokerage account, and also towards paying my college tuition.

I still want to move more of it to my other assets, but I haven’t created a plan of exactly how much I’m moving and where I’m moving it to, so for now I’m just leaving it alone.

Roth IRA

While I did not contribute to my Roth IRA this month, the account managed to earn an extra $300 or so, up from last month.

However, I do plan on maxing it out in November!

UTMA

(I’m not even sure what to call this account since I’m not a minor anymore)

This account had a nice comeback from last month! It had a nice increase as it was in August.

I am actually in the process of figuring out what to do with this account. I’m thinking of moving the funds to a completely new account, or just adding to one of my brokerage accounts.

Cash Reserve/HYSA

This month I finally opened a HYSA! I’ve only contributed $100 so far just to get it started, since I’m not 100% sure what I’m doing with it yet.

I’m thinking of using it as either a sinking fund for vacations (lol I never take vacations) or my college tuition.

General Investing 1

My Betterment account is now my General Investing 1, since I added a new General Investing account to the mix!

If you’ve been following me on Instagram or the blog, I’m sure you know I contribute $500 a month to this account, and have been doing so for nearly 2 years now!

While I’m glad to see this account making a comeback, I really hope it can be at $10,000 soon.

General Investing 2

I opened a new brokerage account in October!

This is another automated account, like my other one, and I chose a growth portfolio with a slightly higher risk. I funded this account with a lump sum investment of $5,000, which originally came from my basically zero interest-earning savings account.

I will be automatically contributing $200 to this account at the beginning of each month, making my total General Investing investments at $700/month!

I’m excited to see this one grow!

Car Value

This pretty much stays the same each month, and I don’t even check KBB that much.

Credit Card

The only debt I have this month is $8!

Yep, that’s right, I actually impulsively purchased a monthly membership to an indoor sports club that has golf simulators and pickleball courts. I hope to go there one day and make it worth the monthly payment!

Total Net Worth: $65,607.53

My monthly net worth progress since August 2022

My net worth is up over $2,000 from September!

I’m super happy to see it come back after the “September Slump” as I like to call it.

Let’s see if we can have an up month in November!
