In this post, I’ll be sharing how I am personally able to save money while working in person in the office every week.
With the rise of remote work over the last 2 years, many people who used to work in the office have said that they save so much money by working remotely.
While I’m not necessarily disagreeing (mostly because I’ve barely worked remote before), I just wanted to make this post because I have found my own ways of actually saving money while still working in office.
This post is based on my own perspective – I am well aware that everyone has different experiences!
I Save Money On Gas By Working Close To Home
My office is a 10 minute drive from my house. I realize that not everyone has a short commute, so I’m grateful to have this opportunity.
When I initially applied for my job, proximity to my house was a HUGE factor. (My previous job was a 30 minute drive each way – so I wanted to avoid that if I could!)
Not filling up my gas tank every week saves me a good amount of money. I now fill up my tank about every other week, sometimes longer or shorter depending on other trips I make.
I Pack My Lunch
I don’t actually meal prep my lunches. I mostly eat leftovers, healthy-ish frozen foods that I buy at Target, and sandwiches & wraps that easy to make quickly with cold cuts and bread or tortillas.
Obviously this saves me a lot of money since takeout has gotten so much more expensive over the past 2 years with inflation. Of course I do enjoy my takeout once in a while, but I really try to cut down on it as much as I can to save money.
I Don’t Drink Coffee!
This is a huge money saver for me as I personally do not drink coffee at all because I hate it!
Thanks to my natural dislike of coffee, I am able to save a lot of money by not dropping money at Starbucks or Dunkin’ every day like some of my coworkers do. (Not judging anyone that buys coffee, you do you!)
I am perfectly happy with my reusable water bottle that costs me nothing to fill up at home and in the office.
If you also work in the office 5 days a week, how do you personally save money?
And if you work remote, what is your favorite thing that you’ve been able to save money on?
I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments section.
